Empowering English Language Students’ Entrepreneurship Competence By Creating ELT Based Business Plan

Since there are many vacancies of directors of studies/ managers of ELT/language teaching and learning centre or institutions that cannot fulfill by many expert teachers or let alone fresh graduade, English Department of Adibuana University has conducted ELT Management for the last five years. Starting 2013, this subject become four credits from previously two credits. Based on the course outline, the writer assigned the students of batch 2011 to make business plan consisted of location, layout of rooms, resource room for students, which client group to target, how to find your clients, marketing, resources and equipment, how to find your teachers, admin and support staff, drawing up contracts, legal aspects, competition, fees, accounts, book keeping and financial aspects, business plan, level and tests, storing information. Before they made business plan, they have attended several meetings in the classroom with the lecturer and business practitioners from Indonesia and overseas. This semester, when they are completing their business plan raging from setting up private English course for kids, students, professionals, public and software house for teaching and learning English, they will also attend the success story by their senior or alumni. These efforts are considered enough for them to build their entrepreneurship competence.

Ular Tangga “Aku Baik dan Pandai” untuk Pendidikan Moral Anak Usia Dini

As seen in the reality of Indonesian society today, many adults neglect moral values in
their behaviors. Those who neglect of moral values may affect morality of early age children. Anticipation by early childhood teachers can be made by means of a game of snakes and ladders which have been developed into I’m Good and Smart Snakes and Ladders. Moral learning through this game focuses on the behavior of honesty, trustworthy, loving God’s creation, caring, responsibility, and citizenship. Equipped with cards containing questions to introduce the concept of morality, it allows for teachers to enrich the moral concepts by developing questions appropriate for the stages of child development. Children serve as a player as well as a pawn, so they are able to appreciate its role in addition to promote physical-motor skills. This game can be played in groups and up to 4 children. The development of snakes and ladders game uses Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) Model. The product trial uses qualitative descriptive design. The purpose of the trial is to determine its effectiveness
as a game that will train early age children to develop their conscience as an internal control, as well as the learning experience of guilt and shame when applicable but does not match the expectations of the group. Based on the product trial, it was found that children have the courage to respond to the behavior of playing mates.

Number of students taking courses of Translation from year to year is always high.
However, the number of students who pass the subject is still low. Class is always filled with students taking recourse of this subject. The tests results show that students have difficulty aligning the structure of English into Indonesian and vice versa, in terms of syntactic function, grammatical meaning, looking for the right diction. The subjects of this study are students of Semester VI English Language Study Program PGRI Adi Buana University courses Translation contracted academic year 2012/2013 both recourse and regular. When examined student failure factor is the difficulty experienced by students in translating English text into Indonesian and vice versa. From the test results was identified that students had difficulty in aligning the structure of the target language with the language of origin in terms of functionality syntactic, grammatical meaning, the use of proper diction, and cultural adjustment. This research applies Contrastive Cooperative Learning Model that aims to describe the efforts made in improving student teachers
in formulating measures learning model, describing learning achievement, and describe the advantages and weaknesses of the model. To achieve the above objectives used quasi­ experimental research methods that implement Cooperative Leaming Model – Contrastive will be applied in the classroom to address the problem of translation.

Based on the observation of the researcher at students in the department of
Mathematics Education, UNIPA Surabaya, the material of limit sequence in real analysis course is a difficult material to understand deeply and coherenly. To find out the reason which makes the material of limit sequence difficult to understand and to improve the result of learning math is needed error analysis to be conducted. As for the analyzed error which include theposition, type and cause error factor which done by the students in solving the matter of limit sequence After acknowledging the position, type and cuase error factor which is done by the students in completing the quesiton of limit sequence, we can determine the alternative solution . The research is descriptive qualitative.This research is conducted in UNIPA Surabaya. The core instrument in this research is the researcher itself and the other instruments are diagnosis test and interview. In this research, the data analysis technique used are through 3 steps: data reduction,
data presenting, conclusion.The position of error done by the students of UNIPA Surabaya in solving the matter of limit sequence is less understanding in correlating the relationship among information as well as the matter completion that is the implementation of theorem and definition to solve the matter, and carelessness to check answer of question. The type of error done by the students of UNIPA Surabaya in solving the matter of limit sequence is included in principle error type and error of concept. The cause factor done by the students of UNIPA Surabaya in solving the matter of limit sequence generally is less attention and not having the deep understanding to the theories and definition to solve the problem. Based on the location, type, and error cause factor done by the students of UNIPA Surabaya in solving the matter of limit sequence so that the alternative model of learning which is proposed by the researcher is metacognitive model of learning.


Penerapan Strategi Paikem Pada Pelajaran Matematika Jenjang Sekolah Dasar Di Kecamatan Mojosari

Dalam proses pembelajaran, diperlukan penggunaan strategi pembelajaran. Strategi
yang digunakan di sekolah dasar haruslah disesuaikan dengan tingkat perkembangan kognitif siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan strategi PAIKEM di sekolah dasar terutama SD yang berada di wilayah kecamatan Mojosari kabupaten Mojokerto. Sekolah yang berada di wilayah kecamatan Mojosari dan termasuk pada gugus MBS yaitu SDN
Kebondalem, SDN Menanggal, SDN Wonokusumo dan SDN Mojosulur. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah 1)SDN Kebondalem, penerapan pembelajaran matematika melesap pada tema yang berada buku siswa, guru juga sudah kreatif memanfaatkan Iingkungan; 2) SDN Menanggal, guru masih bingung dalam mengintegrasikan berbagai mata pelajaran ke dalam suatu tema, guru juga kreatif dalam mengembangkan proses pembelajaran di dalam kelas; 3) SDN Wonokusumo, pembelajaran di sekolah ini belum memenuhi kriteria dari strategi PAIKEM; dan 4) SDN Mojosulur, penerapan di sekolah ini juga belum memenuhi kriteria strategi PAIKEM.

Identifikasi Kecerdasan Majemuk (Multiple Intelligencies) Pada Siswa Sekolah Dasar

Generally, most subjects in elementary school are taught partially. The teaching
process which only limited in one or two intelligencies would create undeveloped intelligencies. Through thematic learning, it is hoped that several multiple intelligencies would be well-created. The aim of this research is to know the mapping of multiple intelligencies for elementary students. The researchers analyze several intelligencies. They are linguistics intelligence, logical mathematics intelligence, spatial visual intelligence. The multiple intelligencies that expected to be occured are the combination between linguistics intelligence with logical mathematics intelligence, linguistics intelligence with visual spatial intelligence, and logical mathematics intelligence with visual spatial intelligence. This research is a qualitative research. The method that used in this research is data triangulation covering documentation method, observation method, and interview method. Documentation method, which used intelligence questionnaire, is conducted to know the dominant intelligence. The observation method, which use intelligence observation sheet, is conducted to know the multiple intelligencies that occur after having thematic learning. The interview method is conducted to confirm the observation result. The subject of this research is 29 students of third grade in Kalisari Elementary School in Surabaya.
From the the result of the research, it could be conciuded that 35% students have linguistics intelligence and visual spatial intelligence, 24% students have logical mathematical intelligence and visual spatial intelligence, and 41% students have linguistics intelligence and logical mathematics intelligence.
