The Purpose of the research was to improve the students’ ability in
syntactical analysis through Problem-Based Learning in Batch 2010 A of The
Teacher Training Department of Indonesian Language and Letters. The
research was designed using classroom action research model in two
cycles. The subject was the students of Batch 2010 A in the Teacher
Training Department of Indonesian Language and Letters consisting of 35
students. TIle data”were collected through observation, questionairres, and
test. They were then analyzed desccriptively and descriptive statistically.

Problem-based learning (PBL) approaCh is an approach in which instructional
strategies directed at the authentic problem experience everyday that encourages
learners to think critically and to solve a problem, so this learning method
confound theoretical value processing and problem-solving techniques to create a
method of ‘learning an emphasis on the construction of knowledge and learning
activities centered on the learners. The purposes of this study were (I) to determine
whether there are differences in learning achievement between learners treated the
instuctional strategies of PBL with internet aided and without internet aided, (2) to
determine whether there are differences in learning achievement between learners
with FD cognitive style and learners with Fl cognitive style, and (3) to determine _
the interaction between instructional strategies and cognitive style on learning
achievement Hypothesis of the research is tested with inferential statistics test by
using 2×2 two-ways ANOVA analysis. The results showed that (I) there are
differences in learning achievement betw~n group of learners treated with PBL
with internet aided and without internet aided (F:: 7.685, p = 0.007), (2) there are
differences in learning achievement between learners with FD cognitive style and
learners with Fl cognitive style (F = 34.213, p = 0.000), (3) there is no interaction
effect between instructional strategies and cognitive style on learning achievement
(F == 0.987, p = 0.323). Based on the findings of this study suggested the teachers to
use problem-based learning strategies internet aided learning in the subjects taught
to always consider the characteristics and conditions of leaming.
