PENGARUH SPESIES BAKTERI DAN RATIO SPERMATOZOA/BAKTERI TERHADAP MOTILITAS SPERMATOZOA MANUSIA SECARA IN VITRO

ABSTRACT
The effect of some species of barteria and sperm/bacteria ratio on sperm motility has
been studied. F our species of bacteria were used in this study: Staphylococcus
epidermidis. Streptococcusfaecalis. Enterobacter aeragenes were obtained from semen
culture of infertile men and E. coli was obtained from prostaticjluid culture from men
with prostat and urinary system disturbances. F ive semen samplesfuljilling the WHO
criteria ( I992) were used in this study. After preparation by Percoll gradient-column
method, sperm were inoculated in a microplate with Staphylococcus epidermidis,
Streptococcus faecalt’s, Enterobacter aerogenes, E. coli under the sperm bacteria ratio 1
: I0 and l : 1000. Sperm motility and aglutination was observed immediately. 3 and 6
hours after inoculation. Results of this study indicated that Staphylococcus epidermidis
and Streptococcusfaecalis did not affect on the sperm motility, and did not cause sperm
aglutinatimt. Enterobacter aerogenes ajfecting the sperm motility at the ratio of
sperm/bacteria l : I 0 in 6 hours after incubation. Enterobacter aerogenes cause sperm
aglutination after 6 hours of incubation. E. coli affected the sperm motility at the ratio of
spenn/bacteria I : 10 and I : I 000 after 3 and 6 hours incubation . E. coli caused sperm
aglutination after 3 and 6 hours of incubation. It might he concluded that the negative
influence of bacteria on sperm motility in vitro dependent on species of bacteria. bat’teria
consentration and time ofincuhatian. The most detrimental effect on sperm motility was
shown by E. coli at the ratio of spem’t/ bacteria 1 : I 0 after 6 hours incubation.
