Genitourinary tract infection is one of the important causes of male infertility Influence Escherichia coli on human spermatozoa has been extensively studied. However; the eject Escherichia coli on production of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS ) were ’n known. Semen samples were obtained from 40 infertile men. Semen were divided into 3 fraction. Each fraction were used to identzficated species of bacteria, semen analysis, determinate production of ROS. Identification species of bacteria performed by standart culture technique, conventional semen analysis according WHO criteria, Luminol-mediated chemiluminicence assay were used to determine ROS generation by non stimulated or
stimulated with 12 myristate 13 acetate (PMA) or N F ormyl-methionyl-leucyl-phenylalanine (FMLP). Result of this research: Production of ROS on semen contaminated by Escherichia coli higher than normospermia and Escherichia coli decrease sperm motility Conclutions of this study that Escherichia coli infection of semen may induce increase production of ROS , subsequently impaired of sperm motility.
